Presentation of The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: Innovation 2008

On Thursday 23rd October, H.R.H. The Duke of Kent presented The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation to Leach Colour at their headquarters, at Bradley Business Park, Huddersfield. The Duke was accompanied by The Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire and The Deputy Mayor of Kirklees.
The prestigious award was given in the Innovation category for the company’s magnetic graphic display system - STIK. Since its introduction STIK has been used extensively in some of the most well known retail stores, car showrooms, commercial interiors and heritage sites, both in the UK and abroad.
During the visit, H.R.H. toured the company’s premises where he had the opportunity to meet with and talk to staff, followed by a formal lunch in the Board Room with directors, staff, customers and suppliers. During the tour of the company works, H.R.H. took up the opportunity to install some STIK graphics himself and commented on how easy and simple the graphics were to install.
STIK is based on a simple principle, using magnetic attraction to hold graphic display panels in place. The system comprises of two elements, a permanent magnetic base and a flexible, high quality graphic panel with a special ferrous backing. Once the magnetic base has been installed, the graphic panels can be put in place easily by customer’s own staff, without the need for any specialist training or equipment - no tools, nails, screws or adhesives. Updating graphics is then simply a matter of peeling off the old graphic panels and replacing them with new ones.
In accepting The Award, Richard Leach, Managing Director said “Stik is our best selling product to the retail sector. We produce it for several of the leading fashion retailers, motor showrooms and banks. It is the only multi-section graphic product which can be installed quickly and easily by unskilled store staff, eradicating the costs and time delays associated with professional installation. It is a privilege to win such a prestigious award and I am particularly proud to say that Leach is the only company in our industry to hold this honour”.
